Here's a tip to find many trendy and popular places in Melbourne's inner city suburbs: head down alleyways and look for the deadend, the rubbish bins... you often land on a beauty! Score!

Le Abbottsford Convent où il fait très bon aller passer un dimanche après midi en bonne compagnie, un resto social qui survit par les dons, un bar, une boulangerie, parfois un marché à aire ouvert, sans compter les chèvres et les 'Silk hens' du Collignwood children Farm! On aime.
The Abbotsford Convent is still partly a clergy house, but also many more things: a social insertion and training initiave restaurant and bar (delicious, pleasant and cheap!), a bakery, an open air art market, and a slew of farm animals, agricultural and cultural paraphernalia and events. The neighbouring Steiner school has a traditional clay oven in the yard, and just wait 'till you see the funky silk hens at the Collingwood Children's Farm!
